Overview

When troubleshooting issues with Faddom, our support team may request HAR (HTTP Archive) files and browser console logs. These diagnostic files capture detailed information about network requests, page loading behavior, and any JavaScript errors occurring in your browser. This technical data helps our team quickly identify and resolve issues you're experiencing, providing much faster resolution than relying on screenshots or descriptions alone.

Important: Only record the specific actions that reproduce the issue. Do not record your entire session or login process, as HAR files can contain sensitive information including usernames and passwords.

Generating HAR Files and Console Logs

Step 1: Open Your Browser and Login to Faddom

Launch your web browser and navigate to your Faddom instance. Log in with your credentials and navigate to the area where you're experiencing the issue.

Step 2: Open Developer Tools

Once you're logged in and on the page where the issue occurs, open the browser's Developer Tools:

  • Chrome/Edge/Chromium-based browsers: Press F12 or go to More Tools > Developer Tools

  • Firefox: Press F12 or go to More Tools > Web Developer Tools

The Developer Tools panel will open, typically at the bottom or right side of your browser window.

Step 3: Select the Network Tab and Clear Existing Data

In the Developer Tools panel, click on the Network tab at the top. This tab captures all network traffic between your browser and Faddom.

Important: Before recording, clear any existing network data by clicking the clear button (circle with a line through it) in the Network tab toolbar. This ensures your HAR file contains only the relevant information about the issue.

Step 4: Recreate the Issue

Now perform the exact actions that trigger the issue you're experiencing. The Network tab will automatically record all network activity as you reproduce the problem.

Do NOT refresh the page - this creates a larger HAR file with unnecessary data and makes it harder to identify the actual issue. Only perform the specific actions that cause the problem.

Step 5: Save the HAR File

Once you've recreated the issue:

  1. Click the download button (down arrow icon) in the Network tab toolbar

  2. Save the file with a descriptive name (e.g., faddom-issue-12-07-2025.har)

  3. Note the location where you saved the file

Step 6: Navigate to the Console Tab

Click on the Console tab in the Developer Tools panel. This tab displays JavaScript errors, warnings, and other diagnostic messages from Faddom.

Step 7: Save the Console Log

In the Console tab:

  1. Right-click on any section with data in the console

  2. Select Save As from the context menu

  3. Save the file with a descriptive name (e.g., faddom-console-12-07-2025.log)

Step 8: Send Files to Support

Attach both the HAR file and Console LOG file to your support ticket or email them to Faddom support. Include a brief description of the issue and the steps you took to reproduce it. If you were requested to send the server logs as well - please refer to this article.
