Map Symbols

Whenever you see a server symbol with a data source symbol, this indicates which data source the server is from.

If you see the red dot on an entity, this means that the entity has some sort of Event which can be seen in the top right as per some of the symbols below.

Symbol

Server Type

This is a server not in the inventory/physical server

This is a virtual or physical server that has multiple IP addresses

This indicates a virtual IP Group such as a loadbalancer VIP

This indicates a database server

Manually created group of servers limited to the map you are looking at

ASN Group - usually ISP, SaaS or PaaS

This is a webserver

This indicates a connection to the entry point of a map from the map you are

Colors

Faddom uses different colors for connections to represent the status of each

connection. Here we will go over these colors and explain the meaning of each.

Activity Status Color

Color

Meaning

arrow-green.png

Active connections. An active connection is a connection that we have seen traffic for very recently.

arrow-light-green.png

Idle connections. A connection that we have seen traffic for within the last half hour

arrow-grey.png

Inactive connections. A connection that we have not seen any traffic on for the past hour or more.

arrow-red.png

Connection with no response. This connection was detected to be active or idle, but there was no response detected. This may be due to a firewall blocking the connection or a service that is down.

light_blue.png

Connection from a virtual IP on a Load Balancer to a server

Short dotted lines appear for connections that are related to the server but are not part of the application map.

Long dotted lines appear for connections that are not part of the map directly, but have been manually added to the map.

Changed Connection Colors

Color

Meaning

purple-arrow.png

Added connections. A connection that was not detected as part of a map before and is now part of the map. Note that the arrow head represents the activity status of the connection as seen above.

orange-arrow.png

Removed connection. A connection that was part of the map before and is now detected to not be part of the map. Note that the arrow head represents the activity status of the connection as seen above.

Viewing the Color Connection Legend in Faddom

You can see this legend on your Application Maps and Search results at the bottom by clicking on the Legend icon, and by hovering over the color, you will see a description of each color.

Customising The Colors

It is possible to customise the colors which enhances the accesibility of Faddom. This is done per user for all application maps as well as the subnet dependencies map. To do this, you click on the Edit icon on the color connection legend, then select the color you want and click Apply and Faddom will update immediately.
