If your network employs one or more load balancers then you can add it to Faddom so that it can be mapped with the rest of your network. Note that cloud load balancers (e.g. AWS ELB) will be automatically detected and added.
Prerequisites
In order to add a load balancer, Faddom requires SNMP read access using SNMP v2 or v3. For more information on SNMP see our blog article What Is SNMP?).
Additionally, some vendors will also require adding the Faddom server to an allowed whitelist of servers allowed to query the load balancer over SNMP. This can be done in the load balancer's UI and varies from vendor to vendor (for guidance please refer to your vendor documentation. Additionally, the SNMP UDP port 161 in the firewall needs to be open to allow SNMP traffic from the Faddom server to the load balancer. How to Add A Load Balancer
Click on the Settings icon
Select Data Sources from the settings screen
Choose your Load Balancer from the menu which contains a list of the most common Load Balancer vendors. If your Load Balancer is not listed and you would like us to add it please contact support@faddom.com. Additionally, you can manually a load balanced service from the IP Groups screen. Select SNMPv2 or v3 and insert the required information
Auto-refresh is enabled by default and it's function is to automatically refresh the load balancer configuration data every 24 hours. Deselect this if you do not wish to do this automatically.
Click on OK to save the settings.
Almost immediately you will see the number of IP groups in the Load Balancer screen
Faddom also supports AVI Network/NSX Load Balancer via API. To do this you simply enter the details needed click SET CREDENTIALS and the configuration will be discovered.
If you are using a physical load balancer, and wish to see the incoming traffic, you will need to enable traffic flows, typically NetFlow or sFlow (if supported), and point it to the Faddom server.
