Faddom works as a collector for your network traffic whether it's from on-prem, cloud, or a hybrid environment. For on-prem deployments, Faddom utilises IPFix, Netflow, and sFlow protocols In the cloud, the traffic is collected by enabling traffic logging and providing Faddom with API access to the logs in-situ.

VMware

How to Enable Traffic Collection in VMware - For the initial discovery and traffic collection, you will need enhanced permissions. Once the initial configuration is complete, you can revert to read-only. You will need to either enable NetFlow (distributed switches) or deploy sensors (standard switches)

Nutanix

How to Discover Nutanix AHV - For the initial discovery of Nutanix and how to enable IPFix to receive the traffic

Hyper-V and KVM Based hypervisors

host sFlow. is utilised to provide traffic and performance data in Hyper-V. To configure it in Hyper-V you can follow our guide Hyper-V sFlow Configuration.

For Proxmox and other similar hypervisors you can see our guide How to Setup Faddom on Proxmox

For other KVM-based hypervisors, you can download host sFlow and configure it according to the documentation.

AWS

To enable discovery of AWS, Faddom requires read-only credentials to the account with EC2 instances and to S3 where you will need to store the VPC Flow Logs. For full details, you can follow Mapping an AWS Subscription Using Faddom

Azure

For enabling discovery of Azure, Faddom requires read-only credentials to the account with after creating an app registratrionand to S3 where you will need to store the VPC Flow Logs. For full details you can follow Mapping an Azure Subscription Using Faddom

Kubernetes

To discover Kubernetes you need to install host sFlow on the nodes and provide a Kubecfg file. You can see full instructions in How To Integrate My Kubernetes Cluster With Faddom?

Physical Environments

For your physical environments, you need to enable traffic monitoring on your network devices.

In some cases, this is not possible, or there is a standalone machine, in which case you can do discovery through our agent. You can follow Capturing network traffic using agents for instructions

Load Balancers

Faddom will utilise SNMP v2 or v3 to read the configuration of your load balancers. If they support IPfix protocols you can also forward the traffic for a fuller picture to Faddom. You can read about this in How to Set Up a Load Balancer
